Deborah’s life changed forever shortly before her 16th birthday. The house where she and her family lived exploded from an unknown propane leak. Deborah woke up the next morning in the hospital in full leg casts and the fear that she may never walk again. "For almost a full year, I underwent surgery after surgery and day after day of physical therapy," remembered Deborah. |

She eventually regained her ability to walk, but her knee "was just never what it used to be."
Thirty years passed by. "I had so many limitations," said Deborah. "No climbing stairs normally. No bike riding, no running, no dancing ... all the things you wish you could do but can't."
Because of her leg pain, her physician from the accident suggested that she consider total knee replacement. At first she was resistant. She explained: "As a person who had lived through some very bad surgeries, I was afraid that if this next one was not going to ‘fix’ my knee, I just didn't want to face another one."
But as the pain continued, she decided to move forward. Her surgeon replaced Deborah’s damaged knee joint with a Natural-Knee II implant.
Deborah described the results: "When I took my first step up the wooden steps in therapy, all the way to the top, tears were streaming down my face. The movement was so fluid and easy."
"This thing called Total Knee Replacement is the most marvelous surgery I have ever experienced. For a surgeon to take a person so limited in life's actions and to make a mobile, active person, who is pain free is a miracle."
"I thank God for the technology of Total Knee Replacement and for the skilled surgeons who complete the picture of returning a patient to good health. I will never forget all those instrumental in this miracle. They have helped me close the last chapter of a long story with a happy ending."
