Zimmer® M/L Taper Hip Prosthesis with Kinectiv® Modular Neck Technology
Traditional hip replacements have had limited size and shape choices, so doctors typically adjusted the hip bone to fit the implant. Hip replacements with Zimmer Kinectiv Technology, however, give surgeons a wide range of options, so they can more accurately fit the joint replacement to your hip.
While most hip implants have three parts, hip replacements with Kinectiv Technology have four, thus allowing your surgeon to separately select each component to optimize a joint replacement that fits you best.
The Fitmore® Hip Stem
The Fitmore Hip Stem gives your surgeon the potential to use minimally invasive (MIS) techniques. While every patient's experience may differ, MIS procedures are designed to provide a number of benefits:
- Accelerated recovery time and reduced pain, due to the minimal trauma to muscles, tendons, and nerves
- Reduced scarring from the use of a smaller incision than with traditional total hip replacement
- More rapid stability of the hip implant because the muscles are not disrupted during the procedure
In addition, because hip replacement using the Fitmore Hip Stem is a muscle-sparing procedure, patients may experience reduced rehabilitation time following surgery, as compared with the six to eight weeks of rehab that is typical with traditional hip replacement procedures.
Continuum® Acetabular system
The Continuum hip system offers a wide range of options to allow your surgeon to customize your hip replacement to meet your individual needs.
An important component of the system is Trabecular Metal™ Technology, available exclusively from Zimmer. Trabecular Metal Technology is not a coating, like the surface of many hip replacements. Rather, it is an advanced, three-dimensional material that closely resembles your body's natural cancellous ("spongy") bone. Trabecular Metal Technology, made of Tantalum metal, has a high level of friction to provide immediate stability for the hip joint. It also has a high level of porosity that allows ingrowth into the hip implant.
