Durom Femoral Component Distinct Instrumentation

In femoral hip resurfacing, care must be taken to avoid neck notching which may lead to neck fracture.  The Durom Femoral Component is sized in 2mm increments and machining of the femoral head is based on the center of the femoral neck, not the center of the femoral head.

The Durom Femoral Component utilizes a sophisticated femoral centering jig, which allows precise implant sizing and positioning with accuracy to less than 1mm.  The jig allows independent control of the neck-shaft alignment, neck version and translation both in anteroposterior (AP) and mediolateral (ML) planes.

An innovative femoral head trial with a window has been developed to assess bony defects, support and seating of the component.  The Durom Femoral Instruments produce an even cement mantle of approximately 1mm, reducing the risk of fatigue failure of the bone cement.
