The Patient Education Kits are intended for physicians to give to patients who have been identified as a surgical candidate. The Kit becomes their very own to take home and keep. This is beneficial for 3 reasons:
The following Kits are available for purchase:
- Hip Replacement,
- Knee Replacement,
- and Shoulder Replacement.
In addition, Hip and Knee Kits are available in Spanish. Each Standard Kit includes a 27 minute video, Guide book, and Diary. Hip and Knee Kits are available in either VHS or DVD format.
The Kit is designed to bring comprehensive, straightforward information to patients for their use before and after the surgery. Used as a reference, the Kit may help avoid inconsistencies that could arise from verbal explanations given in the office. Additionally, the information in the Kit is more detailed than that found in the 10 to 15 minute overview tapes often used today for in-office education. The Kit will help surgeons address patients’ questions about surgery, as well as help develop realistic expectations in their patients who choose to go forward with joint replacement surgery, all while freeing up time for the physician to spend with additional patients.
The Patient Oriented Brochures are another tool a physician can use to help educate the public and raise awareness of orthopaedic issues. There are eight brochures covering topics related to arthritis and managing the impact the disease has on a person's life. Four brochures outline different joint replacement surgeries. Ten brochures contain information about Zimmer specific active lifestyle products and minimally invasive procedures. Brochures can be used in numerous ways, including handouts in the office, giveaways at community seminars, inserts in a direct mail program, etc. |
With the pads of Tear Sheets showing professional color illustrations on the front of each sheet, a physician can easily explain a patient's condition, and as well write a personalized note to the patient. The back of each sheet contains educational information that is either general arthritis, or procedure-specific in nature. |
When the patient encounter is completed, the surgeon just tears the sheet off the pad and gives it to the patient to take home. The sheet is now filled with important, patient-specific information which the patient can keep and refer to over time . . . and even show to family and friends as he tells them about his/her orthopaedic condition.
A physician may want to keep a pad in every exam room.
A Bookmark can be used as an additional educational tool. It will leave the office and help build awareness repeatedly. Every time the patient opens their book to the bookmark, they are being exposed to the message it carries. Consumer tests show that repeated exposures create the strongest recall. |
The Zimmer bookmarks are designed to give helpful disease management information to people who have arthritis, along with a short paragraph of information about Zimmer on the other side.
Leaving quantities of the bookmarks in the waiting room, free for the taking, can make it easy for current patients to give the information to their friends. Passing the bookmarks out at a community event could have a similar result. And don't forget about giving them to referring physicians, too.
Of course, Patient ID Cards are another useful tool. Besides the obvious patient benefit of being useful at metal-detecting security stations (such as those in airports, government buildings, etc) a patient ID card is like having the physician’s business card in every patient’s wallet. There are 7 different cards available for purchase. To help surgeons manage potential HIPAA compliance issues connected with patient ID cards, a disclosure authorization form has been created for your use.
| If a physician wants to create a Video Library for patients in his office, the Agility & Mobility DVD can be utilized in this fashion. This short overview video is geared toward consumers who want to maintain active lifestyles. It addresses some of the reasons why people might become less agile as they age including arthritis. Reviews normal and arthritic joints, treatment options, surgical options including joint replacement, and rehabilitation after surgery. |
Wall Charts can be displayed in your lobby or in exam rooms to help educate patients about joints, anatomy, various aspects of arthritis management, and joint replacement surgery. An assortment of professionally illustrated charts is available for the hip and knee joints. |
