The APR® Hip Family

The Anatomic Solution for Bone Matching

For more than 14 years, the APR has provided maximum rotational stability and optimal cortical fit with surgical ease of implantation.  This system features three comprehensive proximal size options (standard, large and oversized) for each distal diameter helping to ensure precise patient-implant matching.  The proximally porous coated and distally grit-blasted stem is also available with HA coating for high demand patients.  A true anatomical stem with excellent clinical results, the APR is the choice for surgeons who demand premium fit and fill.

The APR Hip System offers a complete line of stems to precisely match patients' anatomic needs and address surgeon preferences.

Porous Coating for Active Patients

Titanium stem with proximal Cancellous-Structured TitaniumTM (CSTi TM) porous coating mimics human cancellous bone, providing a reinforced barrier in the proximal area and is coupled with distally textured, grit-blasted surface technology.  The two combined provide biologic fixation and a barrier to osteolysis.

The collared stem loads the calcar to resist subsidence.  The collarless stem addresses the concerns of surgeons who believe the stem should find its natural position within the intramedullary canal.

Porous HA for Biologic Fixation

Zimmer is the first company to offer hydroxyaypatite coating over CSTi.  HA porous surfaces are clinically proven to enhance bony apposition.

Nonporous Fully Textured  – “The Cost-Conscious” Stem

The same geometry as the porous stem but without the porous coating.  The fully textured stem offers a cost-effective, press-fit alternative to cementing.

CoCr Cemented

Anatomic design allows for a complete cement column preventing 3-point fixation associated with non-anatomic stems. Additional features highlight the success of this prosthesis:

  • A continuous, uniform cement mantle.
  • Cobalt Chromium material closely matches the stiffness of cement, helping to protect the mantle from fatigue.
  • The collar allows for medial compression into trabecular bone, while the lateral cobra flange also enhances compression and torsional stability.
  • The 2.5-mm proximal polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) spacers and a distal centralizers help to ensure a continuous, uniform cement mantle and help ensure correct positioning. The stem is slightly undersized from the broach (~2 mm) to ensure the continuous cement mantle.
  • The proximal portion of the stem is macrotextured to facilitate proximal cement adhesion.
